流动摊贩也就是粤语中常说的“走鬼”，他们为何要流动摆卖？每天能有多少收入？这个暑假，来自广东工业大学经济管理学院的10名大学生走出象牙塔，在天河区、白云区、越秀区、海珠区、荔湾区、番禺区与69名流动摊贩深入交流，甚至还走访了他们的住处。

广东工业大学学生调查的69名流动摊贩中，既有卖熟食、水果、衣服、手工艺品、小动物的，也有算命、拉面毛等服务行业的，他们中80%从外地来广州谋生。调查团队的指导老师曹春艳说，我们关注流动摊贩并不是同情他们，而是出于内心对他们的尊重。所以，调查队员们并不愿意称呼他们为“走鬼”，而管他们叫“流动摊贩”或“小摊贩”。调查队员们希望此次社会调查能有助于政府制定确实可行的政策，让广州更加宽容和有序。
家庭状况：
90%为生活所迫才摆摊
流动摊贩90%都为生活所迫。这些人普遍的特点是年龄在30～50岁左右，家里一般有两个小孩以上，而且小孩子都在读书。调查队员们发现，在接受调查的流动摊贩中，有不少大学生家庭，他们靠在街边推车或者挑东西沿街叫卖，把家里的孩子培养成大学生，让调查队员们倍感尊敬。
此外，绝大部分的流动摊贩都希望子女能够读书出来，找一份稳定的工作，不要再像他们这么辛苦。但也有相当多的流动摊贩因为工作忙碌而忽视了对子女的教育，孩子学习成绩不好。
收入状况：
大部分每天获利30～70元
“晚上摆烧烤，白天住洋房！”曾有在广州卖烧烤的流动摊贩声称自己一晚就能赚1000元。小摊贩的收入在不知情的人眼中可能是一个“谜”，甚至有市民认为，别看他们那么可怜，其实他们的月入过万。真实的情况又是怎样呢？
调查报告指出，不同行业，流动摊贩的收入状况也很不相同，一些小摊贩可能由于他从事的行业的特殊性，顾客比较多，所以收入比较高。但大多数流动摊贩的收入是每天30～70元左右，有的甚至更低。调查队员在天河路访问了一位推着单车卖香瓜的大叔，这位大叔说，档口上的.香瓜都得三四元一斤，他只卖2.8元一斤，为的就是薄利多销，混口饭吃。如果没被城管查抄到的话，一天大概也就是六七十元的收入，养活一家四口。相对来说，卖盗版光碟、摆摊卖玉和流动烧烤档的利润也相当可观。
精神状况：
四五十岁流动摊贩最悲观
调查报告中说，40～50岁的流动摊贩最悲观，他们经常挂在嘴边的一句话是：“要吃饭，没办法啊！”那些年入中年的流动摊贩，年龄渐大而事业无成，此时面临的家庭压力也是最大的，一方面可能小孩正在上高中或大学，另一方面家中老人的身体又越来越差，要支付昂贵的医疗费，因此，相对而言，调查队员发现他们的脾气会比较暴躁。调查队员朱自清说，调查过程中，他遇见过一位卖玉米的阿姨，跟他交流的时候始终面带微笑。这位阿姨说了一句“生活困难也要笑”，让他感动了许久。
