Describe a song you can remember well

you should say:

what the song is about;

when and where you first heard this song;

how you felt about it;

and explain why you can remember it well.

The only song which lingers on in my mind when you ask me to describe one, is actually the greatest hit of the famous English band Cold play: Viva la Vida. You know I can even write down each word of its lyrics and easily hum the melody. Wanna hear a piece of it? Maybe after this exam is done... Just kidding. The moment I go to karaoke, this will be the song I always have a chance to sing then.

When did I first hear about this song? I think I first heard it when I was watching TV and there was a new iPod advertisement showing on. The background music suddenly caught my attention as it was so vivid and impressive. Then I did everything I could to search all the information about this song and thanks to Google, which was not entirely blocked here in China at that time, I learned that it has an strange name of “Viva la Vida”, meaning “long live the life” in Spanish. Apart from the inspiring tunes, the Lyrics, to be honest, just showed me something different of composing pop songs. I always regarded pop music as something that only cares about romance; yet Viva la Vida contains such historical and Christian references that I would like to use words, say, ‘magnificent’ to depict it. ‘Pillars of sand’ in lyrics, for instance, is a reference to the biblical parable given by Jesus about the fool who built his house on sand and the wise man who built it on solid rock. Similarly, ‘I know Saint Peter won’t call my name’ refers to the popular tradition of St. Peter guarding the gate of heaven. Moreover, the term ‘...my head upon a sliver platter’ and something like ‘...I am a puppet on a lonely string...’ may refer to various subjects including the French Revolution. Incredible for just A POP SONG, isn’t it? Frankly speaking I have never met such songs with such profundity!

The only song which lingers on in my mind when you ask me to describe one, is actually the one of the greatest hits from the famous Chinese band ‘Shin’: HaiKuoTianKong. You know I can even write down each word of its lyrics and easily hum the melody. Wanna hear a piece of it? Maybe after this exam is done... Just kidding. The moment I go to karaoke, this will be the song I always have a chance to sing then.

When did I first hear about this song? I think I first heard it when I was watching TV and there was a new TV series showing on. The ending song suddenly caught my attention as it was so vivid and impressive. Then I did everything I could to search all the information about this song and thanks to Chinese online search giant Baidu, I learned its name as “HaiKuoTianKong”, meaning “sky is the limit” in Chinese. Apart from the inspiring tunes, the Lyrics, to be honest, just showed me new horizon of making pop songs. It contains several notes delivering ideas like ‘don’t give up or flee from your fate’; ‘fight it bravely’; “Tomorrow will be a better future’; or ‘However challenging your life is, you should be resilient’. I believe it actually tells us the true spirit of what we should do in our lives, and frankly speaking I have been motivated by the song, determined to pursue everything that I desire in future!

1. Do you like music?

If I said I “like” music, that would be the biggest understatement ever. I love it, not any particular genre, a bit of everything. Music is the expression of human thoughts and the soul of human society.

2. What's your favourite kind of music?

I am a rock buff. Actually I like all kinds of rock. Just name a few: metal core, industrial metal, classic rock and melodic death metal. My favorite band is Oasis. They help me get through my tough time.

3. Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument?

No, I think. I did try to learn guitar when I was in middle school. But I gave up when I had my thumb swollen and had blisters all over.

4. Which instrument would you prefer to study - the piano or the violin?

I love them both equally but I would learn piano first, first of all, it’s a lot easier starting off, and secondly, it’s a great jumping off point to learn other instruments.

5. Do you think it's important for children to learn (to play) a musical instrument?

I believe it is important. I think that learning to play an instrument teaches kids important things: comprehension, perseverance, discipline, a sense of pride. With music, they will also learn how to appreciate life.

1. Hey, Jude by The Beatles

Take a sad song and make it better. 就是鼓励大家虽然情况很糟,不过我们也有能力可以make the best of it (to accept a bad or difficult situation and do as well as you can).

2. Three things by Jason Mraz

There are three things I do when my life falls apart.

Number one, I cry my eyes out and dry up my heart

Not until I do this will my new life start

The second thing I do is I close both of my eyes

And say my “thank yous” to each and every moment of my life

Gathering new strength from sorrow

I’m glad to be alive

And things are looking up

I know above the clouds the sun is shining

Love is still the answer I’m relying on

The third thing that I do, now, when my world caves in

Is I pause, I take a breath and bow and I let the chapter end

I design my future bright, not by where my life has been

And I try, try, try, try, try again

I know beyond the dark the sun is rising

3. Stronger by Kelly Clarkson

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller,

Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone.

What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter,

Footsteps even lighter,

Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone.

4. Us against this world by West life

Sometimes I feel like the world is against me

The sound of your voice, baby

That's what saves me

When we’re together I feel so invincible

When I’m with you, I can feel so unbreakable

5. No love by Eminem

Throw dirt on me and grow a wildflower.

6. Superheroes by The Script

When you’ve been fighting for it all your life

You’ve been struggling to make things right

That’s how a superhero learns to fly

Every day, every hour, turn the pain into power

When you’ve been fighting for it all your life

You’ve been working every day and night

That’s how a superhero learns to fly

Describe a favorite song of yours

You should say:

What this song is about

When you listened to this song for the first time How often you listen to this song

And explain why you think it is your favorite

My favorite song is “MY Heart Will GO On”, from the titanic movie. Celine Dion who is a famous playback singer and a pop start of Canada and us has sung this song. I had seen a video this song on a music channel before the movie released in my country before a 20 years ago. When I saw the video, I was impressed by the picturization of the song. Liked the song and immediately I bought its audio from the market and I started listening to the song.

The lyrics of the song are wonderful and touchy. The song talks about true love that is eternal and the song has been associate with the character of the heroin of the film in such a wonderful way that that the song is a message of a girl in the movie who falls in love with a painter on the ship titanic. The ship sinks, she loses her love, yet, she remembers her love at an age of 80+ and all the memories of her love are as fresh as a flower.

Apart from the lyrics, the singer Celine Dion has sung the song. She has made it melodious and effectivewith her beautiful voice. The tune of the song and music are so soothing and melodious that we want to hear the song again and again. I like the song so much that I kept the tune of this song as my mobile’s ring tone for a long time. I still hear this song on my computer and mobile. This song is one of my favorite songs and the best in the career of Celine Dion according to me.

A foreign culture

Ok, well one of the foreign cultures I’m most interested in at the moment is American culture, so that’s what I’ve decided to talk about.

And as for what I know about it, well if I’m gonna be totally honest with you, I really don’t know that much, mainly because I haven’t yet been to the States, so I’m no expert in any sense of the word, but one thing I think is fair to say is that Americans really love sports, especially basketball and baseball. And I’ve also heard that, apparently, universities in America offer a lot of sports scholarships, so I think this goes to show that being good at sport is pretty highly-regarded over there, and is a strong part of their culture.

So that’s one thing, and I think I’m also right in saying that rap and hip hop are very popular kinds of music in the States, because I’ve noticed that in a lot of Hollywood films I’ve watched, this type of music seems to appear quite a lot, although I have to admit that I find it really difficult to understand what exactly is being said or sung in the songs!

But anyway, with regard to why I find the American culture interesting, well firstly, I guess one reason would be that it’s completely different to our culture over here, and that’s kind of what makes it so appealing to know more about. I mean, just to give you one example, the way food’s cooked in America, on the whole, is a lot different to here, as over there they tend to use an oven for most of their cooking, whereas here in China, we tend to fry most of our food. And as well as this, I think another thing that makes the American culture interesting is the fact that it encompasses so many things that I wasn’t aware of before, so learning about it has really broadened my mind.

And this, I would say, is the beauty of learning other cultures, because for me at least, making an effort to understand a little bit about U.S. culture has definitely given me a wider perspective on life.

So yeah, that’s pretty much all I’ve got to say, so thanks for listening.

Culture

What is 'culture' for you?

考生?: Culture can be defined as the way of life of a particular society or section of society. It involves their customs and traditions, and so in some senses culture is what distinguishes us from others, what makes us unique. I think culture is also what connects us to our past,

to our heritage. We mustn't forget modern culture either, though. Youth culture is often very vibrant and powerful, with its new and inventive forms of music, dress and art.

be defined as 被定义为

in some senses 在一定意义上

distinguish 区分

connect someone to 把...

Do you think that it is important for a society or culture to have a sense of continuity with the past?

考生?: Yes, definitely. Change is necessary, but it is also frightening. For this reason, people continue to rely on their traditions to give them a sense of their roots and to remind them of where they've come from. Commemorating the past is also a way of bringing people closer together, such as during National Day.

rely on 依赖

a sense of their roots

remind someone of ...

commemorate the past 纪念过去

A Cultural Event in China”

Chinese New Year, Dragon-boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Day, Tomb-sweeping Festival等等。

We usually have a good time during the festival. The whole family members have a delicious dinner, and friends and relatives come together to have fun. Parents usually give money to children, so they can buy many things they want. On that day, we usually eat moon cakes and watch the round moon in the sky. It is very beautiful, and the story behind it is more beautiful.

The Chinese are very superstitious and that means they take symbolism seriously. Locals come to market to buy good luck charms. Customers at snack are scooping up all sorts of New Year's treats.

It's a tradition for all of us Chinese to get these sesame balls during Chinese New Year. We use them to worship our ancestors and we say if we have more sesame balls at home then more gold and silver will come into our house. It's really to bring us more wealth in the New Year. Roasted melon seeds symbolize coins, so this means scooping up lots of money. Rice cakes in the shape of fish are big sellers too. In Cantonese the word for fish sounds the same as the word for savings.

Another item that locals want to buy for the New Year for good luck is red underwear. Red symbolizes wealth and prosperity and the Chinese want new clothes for the New Year from head to toe and underneath. My aunt buys three lingerie sets every New Year, believing red will bring her good luck. Lunar New Year is the most profitable time of year for this lingerie store.

The banks are also very busy with customers ordering brand-new bills to give away as New Year's gifts to younger relatives or junior colleagues. It's considered good luck for the giver and recipient.

除了描述春节之外,其实还有很多其他的cultural event值得一说,相对大众的文化传统节日如中国传统的“鬼节”the Ghost Festival,重阳节the Double Ninth Festival;具有地方特色的文化活动可以选择“成都的麻将节the Mahjong Festival,重庆的火锅节the Hotpot Festival in Chongqing”等。

The seventh lunar month in the traditional Chinese calendar is called Ghost Month. On the first day of the month, the Gates of Hell are open to allow ghosts and spirits access to the world of the living. The spirits spend the month visiting their families, feasting and looking for victims.

There are three important days during Ghost Month. On the first day of the month, ancestors are honored with offerings of food, incense, and ghost money - paper money which is burned so the spirits can use it. These offerings are done at makeshift altars set up on sidewalks outside the house.

Almost as important as honoring ancestors, offerings to ghosts without families must be made, so that they will not cause you any harm. Ghost month is the most dangerous time of the year, and malevolent spirits are on the look out to capture souls. This makes ghost month a bad time to do activities such as evening walk, traveling, moving house, or starting a new business. Many people avoid swimming during ghost month, since there are many spirits in the water which can try to drown you.

The last day of the month is when the Gates of Hell are closed up again. The chants of Taoist priests inform the spirits that it’s time to return, and as they are confined once again to the underworld.

针对这样的话题,若希望增加其自然度和真实感,可以在回答正题之前先给考官打一个预防针:“The cultural event I’m going to talk about may sound a little bit superstitious and scary, but it is one of our traditional and cultural events in most areas.”

Describe an occasion that you had a special cake

You should say:

when you had it

where you had it

who you were with

and explain why you think it was special

Band 6

A couple of months ago, my cousin called and told me that she got engaged (订婚). I can’t tell you how excited and thrilled I was hearing the good news So in order to celebrate this memorable(值得纪念的) occasion, I decided to give her a special cake as a present.

Now, I’d like to talk bout the appearance. The cake had two layers (双层) and it looked silky smooth (丝滑的), with some chocolate frosting (巧克力糖霜) and some candy sprinkles (糖果碎) on the outside. What’s best about it is that (主语从句) it’s got two little figures on top of it that looked exactly like my cousin and her fiance (未婚夫), which looked super cool! The bride and the groom were so delighted. After they cut the cake, I couldn’t help myself and took a bite. Words can’t describe how (语言无法描述多么的...) savory is was! I’m not exaggerating (毫不夸张地说), it tasted so different from any other cake I’d ever had before, so soft and tender (柔软的).

As for why it’s special, well, first and foremost, it’s undoubtedly the most special cake I’ve ever had. Plus, it has sentimental values (情感价值) that cannot be replaced and we all enjoyed it very much.

Band 7

A couple of months ago, my cousin called and told me that she got engaged. I can’t tell you how excited and thrilled I was since mycousin and I are like sisters and she knows me likea book So in order to celebrate this memorable occasion, I decided to give her something special, which is afondant cake

When the wedding day finally came, I saw the cake for thefirst time and I was totally blown away It was an 8-inch two-layer cake with a silky smooth finish, decorated with (非谓语) chocolate frosting and some candy sprinkles. The biggest highlight is that (最大的亮点是…) it’s got two little figures on top of it that looked exactly like my cousin and her fiance, which looked super cool! The bride and the groom were overjoyed (开心的, 替换happy) withan ear-to-ear smile (咧开嘴的笑容) on their faces. After they cut the cake, Icouldn’t resist the temptation (无法抗拒诱惑) and took a bite. The second it touched my tongue (当触碰到我的舌尖时,时间状语), I was utterly out of words (无法用语言表达的震惊)! It tasted so soft and tender and it gave me a whole new sensation (一种全新的感受) that I had never had before.

As for why it’s special, well, not only (倒装) is it the most palatable (美味的,替换deilicious) cake I’ve ever had, but also it has sentimental values that cannot be replaced.

在朗文字典上的解释为music that people consider serious and that hasbeen popular for a long time。

代表曲目Love story和You belong with me。

4.Rock and Roll摇滚乐。

Describe a popular music band or a singer inyour country.

You should say:

What it first became popular

What style of music it perform

Who (what kind of people) like this band or singer

And explain why you think they are popular

When it comes to a popular singer in mycountry, I’d like to say a few words on a female singer called G.E.M.

Actually, she’s born in Shanghai andimmigrated to Hong Kong when she was 4 years old. She began to compose andcreate songs when she was just 5. At the year of 17, she won the award of “New ForceFemale Singer”. She was the first one who won this prize that under 18.

She attended a TV show called “I am asinger” and won the second place of finals in . At that period of time, shebecame a household name in China. Her musical style is full of change andexcitement. Her songs include soft Rock, rap, lyric, Broadway. Therefore, shewas regarded as an “almighty goddess”. Due to the TV show, lots of young peoplebecome the crazy fan of her. People became familiar with her representative workslike “what have you done”, “The rose”, and “The foam”.

Her excellence in singing field has beenrecognized by the public, I suppose that’s why she’s so popular in China.

Topic:Describe an interesting song

You should say

where does the song come from

how do you know that

what does the song tell

and explain why do you think it is interesting.

Sample answer:

The legendary song Annie's Song'by John Denver is a piece of music that I really like. I like this song so much that every time I listen to it,I get a fresh and inspiring feeling. This is probably the piece of song that I have listened several thousand times.

This is a song that always inspires me and I like the lyrics and the music of this song. John Denver and his band Beatles and their songs are in my favorite lists. The 'Annie's Song'is a piece of work that the world will revere for a long. This is one of the most rated songs of the world history and I like it for the magical tone it has.

I listen to music almost every day and this song is in my music player. So I would say I listen to this music one in every two days on an average.

This particular song was sung by a gifted singer and the lyric is pretty impressive. The music and vocal was just perfect to make it a legendary song. I love it because of its appeal and magical power to me.

Describe an interesting song you like.

You should say:

What it is

Which country the song comes from

What story the song tells

And explain why you think it is interesting.

I would like to describe a song called “Hey Jude”, which was firstly sung by the English rock band the Beatles. Actually it’s a song McCartney wrote to cheer up a 5-year old boy Julian, during his parents' divorce. The song was first released in August 1968 as the first single from one of the Beatles' records. The song reached the top of both British and American charts. Then, it became an uplifting ballad that’s inspired the masses for decades.

I was also touched by the song the first time I heard it in my high school. I especially like the lyrics, which carry an encouraging message, like when he sings “make a sad song and make it better”. It taught us to be positive and optimistic when things aren’t going well. The lyrics and the tune always spark a bit of romance in my heart.

I tended to listen to this song when I came across all kinds of frustration and failures in my life. It’s really a wake-up call for me and could drag me out of tough situations. Nowadays, I can’t help singing along with the song once it plays. It also had been covered by a series of singers worldwide. Interestingly, it was sung by 80,000 people in the stadium during the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games. The scene was spectacular, hard to describe in words!

The song 'High Hopes' sung by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd band is a song I have loved always and would hear often for the rest of my life. Pink Floyds is famous for their progressive and psychedelic music and high-quality lyrics. This song falls under the progressive rock music genre and was the 11th song on the album 'Division Bell'. I usually listen to this song on my computer and sometimes in my MP3 player with the headphone. In fact, I am a great fan of this music band and most of their songs are on my favourite list. This song is specifically attractive for the music composition, lyrics and theme when it debuted.

This song reminds the past and compares how greener and full of possibility it was. The church bell and the lyrics make an out of the world illusion that only people who love it would realise. Every time I hear this song, I can feel my childhood, the sweet memory and the greener town I used to live. This is the song that opens the horizon for me to visit my past. I love this song from my heart. This music puts me in a sad yet charming mood. I feel sad that the past days won't be coming back and I won't have that childhood charm anymore. On the other hand, this song gives me a genuine pleasure of the memories of my childhood and all the friends and people I knew then.

Honestly speaking, for the most part, I would probably say that I have a great passion for listening to music and indeed I have listened like thousands of songs so far. However, if I have to pick out a song that I like the most, I would probably choose the song Million Years Ago by Adele. By gorgeous lyrics and melody, it’s like a piece of cake for Adele to make me addicted to this song.

A significant feature that I should mention is the song’s meaningful content. It is a regretful calling inside an adult who has born his soul on the way of growing up and earning his stripes. Every now and then I feel he is so desperate that he could do anything to escape the cycle of his life but after all he can’t afford to do so. The reason why I am so fond of this song has something to do with the fact that it provokes so many beautiful memories from my childhood.

Although this song is a sad song, it opens my eyes to many things in life, one of them is that you should not take anything for granted, even the simplest one, try to live to your fullest so that one day you would not have to regret that much about the journey that you have been through. Fairly speaking, Million Years Ago is a really good songs for self – reflecting especially when you find yourself lost in the super busy world nowadays.

And explain why you think it is interesting.

范文:

Interestingly, it was sung by 80,000 people in the stadium during the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The scene was spectacular, hard to describe in words!

The legendary song ‘Annie's Song’ by John Denver is a piece of music that I really like. I like this song so much that every time I listen to it, I get a fresh and inspiring feeling. This is probably the piece of song that I have listened several thousand times.

This is a song that always inspires me and I like the lyrics and the music of this song. John Denver and his band Beatles are always favourite to me and their songs are in my favourite list. The ‘Annie’s Song’ is a piece of work that the world will revere for a long.

The city I live in has a severe problem of traffic jam and due to that we often get late. One such event when I was late in an important exam was a frustrating experience for me. It was 2 years ago when I was a student of the university. I had an exam at 8.30 am which I thought would be at 9.30 am. I did this mistake because I noted the time wrong in my notebook. I prepared for the exam well and left home at 8.15 am as my usual journey to my university takes around 40 minutes. According to the schedule, I should have reached at least 30 minutes before the exam time.

I already had wrong idea about the exam timing and over it I found that it was raining outside and there were very little transportation available in the road. I had to stand at the bus stoppage for more than 30 minutes before I actually got into a bus. To my surprise, the traffic on the road was very bad. The bug was moving very slowly because of the unavoidable traffic jam. I was hopping desperately to reach the university in time. But that was not my day! I reached at the exam hall at 10.15 am and I was shocked to learn that the exam would end only in 15 minutes. I was so worried and anxious that I could not think clearly what to do.

I felt helpless at that time and was asked the teacher what can I do now. He asked me to come after the exam ends. I followed him as soon as he left the exam room. I noticed that some of my classmates were also looking at me with surprise and were probably thinking how careless I was to miss such an important exam.

After I reach the class exam coordinator’s room, he took me to our advising tutor and asked me to give a good reason why I was late for the exam. I told everything that has happened and the coordinator arranged an exam in his room. As a penalty he deducted 20 minutes from the exam time and asked me to finish the exam and leave the answer sheet to him. I was kind of worried and felt bit relived also. As my preparation was good, I had been able to answer all the questions in the due time. Thus the situation was handled and I was not in a big trouble for the late I made unintentionally.

范文

There was one time when I got really late for an important appointment and nearly missed it. Today, I am going to share with you about that incident.

Two months ago, I sighed up for an IELTS test. My speaking exam was scheduled on June, 13th, 9:00 in the morning. I was supposed to report at the test venue no later than 8:30 am.

Unfortunately, it rained heavily on Sunday evening, right before my test day, and the weather forecast predicted incessant rain for a few days. Considering the bad weather, I set an alarm for 6:00 am and went to bed early. Truth is, I was feeling quite nervous through the whole night and couldn’t sleep well. Despite all that, I managed to wake up on time next morning. After getting everything ready, I left my home to catch the bus. To my surprise, when I arrived at the bus station, no buses or any other commuters were in operation, all stranded due to the bad weather.

It was quite chaotic at the bus station then, since no one knew when the bus service would be back in operation again. And for me, things got even worse, because there were no other means of transportation to reach Peking University, my test venue, from the place where I live. It was 7:50 am and I was still trapped at the bus station. My anxiety was building.

Fortunately, one of the buses started to move at 8:00 am and I rushed onto it without hesitation. However, it took a lot of time, longer than usual, for the bus to take us to Peking University. Guess what, we encountered a head-on collision between a truck and a car on our way there, which caused heavy traffic jam. Yeah, you can see it was definitely not my way.

Finally, I reached the test center at 8:55 am. I explained the situation to the test manager and asked him to put my name back on the list. He was very understanding. Later, I was given the permission to take the test.

Now, whenever I think about this incident, my heart just couldn’t stop beating fast. I guess I’ll just have to be more careful in the future to avoid things like that.

1. Do you (usually) wear a watch (a wrist watch)? (Why?)

No I have my mobile with me, it’s got a nice watch in it.

· 戴表的!I know some people say that with mobile phones, the wrist watch is out-dated. I disagree. A quick glimpse at your watch during a meeting or on the production line is a lot better then pulling out your cell phone. I find a watch to still be the most convenient method of time keeping.

Yes, and I prefer to wear it on the inside of my wrist. I tend to scratch and otherwise damage watches that I wear on the outside. Wearing them on the inside prevents that.

2. What do you use your watch for?

I use it mainly for timing the speed.

It’s a kind of ornament for me, actually. Wearing a watch has become more of a fashion statement.

For me, it is always about knowing what time it is...as a reporter, I need to keep track of time...but I do care about style...and have always, since I began wearing a watch at about age eight, chosen styles I like, without regard to what is “in style”...

Part fashion, part convenience for me. I have a Baby-G and it's digital. It's water proof because I don't want to take it off when I shower or go swimming. It also lights up so I can read it at night. It's in a cute style.

3. Do you think time is very important? (Why?)

Time is money. Actually, time is more valuable than money. The money we have lost can be gained again, but the time we have wasted cannot be regained.

Despite being so valuable, time is often neglected by people. Since time is an invisible thing, people often waste their time unconsciously(无意地). Without anything to do, they may gossip from morning till night.

Time is important. Time is valuable. Time is precious.

4. Are you ever late for anything?

Yes I had a few times late last week for work, but I didn’t get into big trouble because most of the time I was early.

I was late to school about 10 times so far this semester, which is going to screw me out of college.I need to come up for some really good excuses.

I made some mistakes this year in attendance, I am trying to find out if there’s anything I can do to bring my grade up.

5. Do you think it's important to be on time?

Yes. I always run on time and feel ashamed if I am late to anything. I am not obsessed but feel that if you are invited somewhere you should show the host the respect of being there when invited.. It just seems these days that nobody is on time and running late is the norm.

No. It has become expected to turn up to an informal event five minutes late, this is what most people do in America. However if punctuality is important for that event then it is considered extremely rude to turn up late.

Punctuality is a virtue. Oh, being late is RUDE, there is no doubt about it. EXCEPT when going to a party -- then it's expected that you arrive a few minutes late. In fact, the host probably WANTS you to arrive a bit late... I know when I'm hosting a party, I'm always running around like crazy doing last minute things (like getting dressed!) and if a guest actually arrives on time, I'm not ready! Be kind, arrive 5 or 10 minutes late...

6. Do you feel that time moves fast or slowly?

Age and size make a difference to whether time moves fast or slow. And thats not a matter of perception. The older you are, the faster times moves. Or, the faster you are, the slower time moves.

Daily, I find myself looking back and not being able to remember what happened, or how an event got so far away. A half a year seemed like two seconds. Even when you think time will never pass...it passes faster than expected.

life is short, its so true. But dont dwell on how much time has past or how fast the future is going to pass, just live you life. if you just live in the moment and have random spontaneous moments it will seem like your life is fuller even if it goes by in a flash.

I know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately we can't stop time, we can only make the most of it. Maybe try keeping a diary of what happens in your life if you are having trouble remembering what's happened. That way you can look back and reminisce on good times:)

7. When do you feel time moves slowly? (Why?)

· 等待的时候度日如年!I guess it really depends if you are doing something you enjoy or not. Also if you are waiting for something, time will move slow. If you are having a good time and want to cherish that moment and have it last forever-time is slipping by faster then you can blink. Time is never in your favor.

When I was a child, I felt time moves slowly. Because as a child I had so little control over my own destiny, over my own life and i spent a great deal of time waiting for growing up.

I would stay away from alcohol. its my best friend and worst enemy.

· 超级自恋型!I would go back, give my teen self a hug and tell her that she is beautiful, unique and special and that one day she will meet a guy who will love her just the way she is so she should just keep being true to herself and not do dumb things in order to get people to like her.

I would do the same thing all over again...im proud of what i have done and of my achievements....

None. I wouldn't give myself any advice. I am one of those people that believes that everything happens for a reason.I would never want to change anything about my life. Life lessons are important, especially the ones that brought me pain.

多米诺骨牌效应:=Something you learned from math=Something you learned from your family=A piece of advice=A change you had=An important stage in your life=A text message you got=A letter you got=An E-mail you got=A way of communication=An important decision you made=A person who helped you=A kind thing someone did to you=A family member you love talking to=A good parent=An elderly family member=A neighbor=A good friend=A teacher=A science course you took=A subject you love/d at school=Your personality=First day of college=Your experience of getting money as a gift=Your experience of getting congratulations=A person you helped=A thing your friend did made you admire.

在谈到“Describe a hobby you have”这一话题时,一位考生是这样开场的:

Today I am going to talk about collecting postcards—a hobby that is both fascinating and financially rewarding. I would like to explain the basic kinds of collectible postcards, why they are so valuable, and how collectors buy and sell their cards.

It’s Saturday morning, and you are helping clean out your grandmother’s house. After working a while, you stumble upon a trunk, open it,and discover hundreds of old postcards.Thinking about getting to your driving lesson on time, you start tossing the cards into the trash can.Congratulations! You have just thrown away a year’s tuition.

在谈到“Describe a traffic jam you had experienced before”这一话题时,一位考生的开场白值得大家借鉴:

Traffic jams are more than a nuisance. They are a worldwide economic problem. In Guangzhou alone, they cost 12 million yuan each year.In major U.S.cities,they are responsible for more than 21 billion liters of wasted fuel and 68 billion dollars in lost productivity.Traffic jams will soon cost the British economy more than 20 billion pounds sterling a year.

As I speak today, there is a silent killer hiding near here.Who is this silent killer? Not a robber. Not a thief. Not a criminal. It is high blood pressure.

Fluency &Coherence

Grammatical Range &Accuracy

Vocabulary

Pronunciation

I agree/disagree with this point;表示举例的for example, a good case in point is that…等等。

在这部分,非常重要的一个能力就是要能够详尽地论述你的观点(build on your point of view)。

BBCLearnEnglish:www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish

LearnEnglish免费英语学习网站:learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/zh-hans/

VOA - Voice of America:learningenglish.voanews.com/

4.Practice, practice, practice!

Describe an interesting song you like.

You should say:

What it is

Which country the song comes from

What story the song tells

And explain why you think it is interesting.

I would like to describe a song called “Hey Jude”, which was firstly sung by the English rock band the Beatles. Actually it's a song McCartney wrote to cheer up a 5-year old boy Julian, during his parents' divorce. The song was first released in August 1968 as the first single from one of the Beatles' records. The song reached the top of both British and American charts. Then, it became an uplifting ballad that's inspired the masses for decades.

I was also touched by the song the first time I heard it in my high school. I especially like the lyrics, which carry an encouraging message, like when he sings “make a sad song and make it better”. It taught us to be positive and optimistic when things aren't going well. The lyrics and the tune always spark a bit of romance in my heart. I tended to listen to this song when I came across all kinds of frustration and failures in my life. It's really a wake-up call for me and could drag me out of tough situations. Nowadays, I can't help singing along with the song once it plays. It also had been covered by a series of singers worldwide. Interestingly, it was sung by 80,000 people in the stadium during the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games. The scene was spectacular, hard to describe in words!

4.reach the top of the chart

6.carry an encouraging message

7.spark a bit of romance

You should say:

What it is

Which country the song comes from

What story the song tells

And explain why you think it is interesting.

Both Of Us

主题:Both Of Us by BOB and Taylor Swift

I really love music and over the years there are lot many songs that have come up to inspire me and help me to get out of the rut that I am living in. But, the one song that I really fell in love and have enjoyed over the years is, “Both Of Us by BOB and Taylor Swift”.

The song is about the people who are trying to fulfill their dreams. It talks off their struggle, their emotions and how they feel when the world rejects them. The singer says that he is there for all of the people who are trying to fulfill their dreams. It is about how it is not about just lifting yourself from rut but also the people near you.

I love this song because in some ways it helps me to stay focused and move on towards my dreams. It is very motivating and the background music is amazing. I remember hearing this song on a loop when the days are tough and I am not able to do anything. Because it is on these days that I can fully relate with this song.

Most of the people hear to it, most probably the ones who are bothered about something or are trying hard to achieve something in their lives. It is that powerful, that strong, that you can actually feel powered hearing it.

同学们牢记好三句话:thanks very much for your time ,and I enjoy taking with you . Have a good day ,__(加上考官的名字,并且握手)。 T:Come in please.(在门口叫你) S:thank you 后,轻声关门,马上走到考官前说:my name is _x.(一定要说中文名,不能说英文名),然后马上请问对方的名字:how do you like me to address you ,sir?(这句话是外交级的语言,对方肯定会告诉你名字),假设考官说的是Ken, 你马上微笑的回答:Oh, Ken, (惊讶的表情),nice name, glad to meet you.(伸出手,要有力) 。

It has white body and black eyes或者It's cute之外,几乎没有区别于其他同学的内容。

首先要学会做有心人,平时和同学、朋友聊天,要多注意收集他人的人生经历。比如一个同学绘声绘色地描述了他去云南游玩的经历,即便你本人没有去过云南,也可以把这一段话改编成一段出色的雅思口语trip题答案;

There's a zoo indside of it, and there're different kinds of animal in it, such as…

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail (opened February 8, 2001) : A play area for kids, featuring a Mount Shasta wilderness-like setting and suspension and wire bridges. It also features rock climbing and a Brother Bear scene cave. It is also designed for adventurous adults.

Well, I don't have a certain favorite attraction in particular, but if I have to say, I'd probably say it is Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Actually, it's a play area for kids but it also attracts a young adult like me for its design. It is a mount shape background with a exciting suspension and wire bridge, and also a cute brother bear cave which even fascinates a lot of adults.
