2、1830年，维勒对墨西哥出产一种铝矿潜心研究，断定这种铝矿中还有一种没被人发现的新元素。可惜的是，他没有继续研究下去。就在第二年，塞夫斯德朗对此经过长期研究，终于发现了这一新元素——钒。维勒对自己的浅尝辄止深感懊悔。
