雅思口语范文:describe a well paid job you want to do(品鉴师)

I think a hotel examiner is truly well paid.

Sometimes they would fancy themselves as hotel connoisseurs, ‘cause basically this job involves checking in the designated hotel, checking out the service there, including the facilities and people’s attitudes, and writing an objective overall review of their experience. And the best part is, all the travel expenses would be recoverable from the company, plus, they get paid a lot for doing all that. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better way to make money.

The reason I think I would be qualified for the job is, well firstly, I’m a huge fan of travelling, I just could get a buzz out of it. So you see, making a living on my hobby is the best lifestyle I could dream of. And also, I have a good command of Chinese, and what I wrote is generally appealing to readers. I could pay close attention to details, and I love to share my experiences, good or bad, with others.

The purpose of this job is to advertise newly established hotels, eliminate those awful ones with horrible service, so in the end, travellers could be offered more good options. So it’s fair to say, this job is quite meaningful, and that’s why companies are willing to pay a great deal of money to hire people like me to do this kind of job.

And most importantly, I’m the kind of person with great work ethic, I mean, I would never take bribes and talk up the hotel to deceive consumers. So my reviews would be objective and reliable.

connoisseur = an expert on matters involving the judgment of beauty, quality or skill in art, food or music 例如:

The exhibition will be a delight for the collector and connoisseur of silver ornaments.

a connoisseur of Italian painting

a wine connoisseur

recoverable = that you can get back after it has been spent or lost 例如:

qualified = having passed the exams or completed the training that are necessary in order to do a particular job; having the experience to do a particular job 例如:

a qualified accountant/ teacher, etc.

to be highly/ suitably/ fully qualified

She's extremely well qualified for the job.

command = your knowledge of something; your ability to do or use something, especially a language 例如:

Applicants will be expected to have (a) good command of English.

appealing = attractive or interesting 例如:

Spending the holidays in Britain wasn't a prospect that I found particularly appealing.

Brightly colored packaging made the pens especially appealing to children.

ethic = a system of moral principles or rules of behavior 例如:

a strongly defined work ethic

bribe = a sum of money or something valuable that you give or offer to somebody to persuade them to help you, especially by doing something dishonest

It was alleged that he had taken bribes while in office.

She had been offered a $50?000 bribe to drop the charges.

talk somebody/something up = to describe somebody/ something in a way that makes them sound better than they really are 例如:

They talked up the tourist attractions to encourage more visitors.

My friend highly recommended this book to me, he said it was the most gripping story he had ever read in his entire life. So just out of curiosity, I bought the trilogy on Amazon.

And I have to say, my friend is totally right about it. No wonder people say it is the most popular science fiction in China. I mean, the whole story is full of imagination, and the best part is, you don’t have to be an expert in science or have any specialist knowledge to understand and appreciate the story.

I’m impressed by the author’s way of telling the story, I mean, he grabbed me from the very start, and it was just impossible to put the book down.

What he wrote about is not just about science and technology, it’s also about philosophy, humanity, history and psychology. So you see, this book has a profound meaning.

Like I said, what appeals to me the most is the way he wrote the stories. He came up with quite a few new concepts and assumptions about the universe. So I really admire his wild imagination. And the whole book is about the fight between human beings and other creatures, I mean, aliens, from the outer space, but there’s no description of any battle at all. Interestingly, however, we could still feel the tension and cruelty of the war.

It’s fair to say, the writer is truly a genius. It took me a whole week to finish reading the book, but I have to say, it’s totally worth my time.

I heard there would be a screen adaptation of the same name released soon. I’m pretty looking forward to it, ‘cause I really hope special effects in the movie could display the vivid imagination in the book.

Gripping = exciting or interesting in a way that keeps your attention

Trilogy = a group of three books, films/ movies, etc. that have the same subject or characters

No wonder = it is not surprising 例如:

It is little wonder (that) she was so upset.

No wonder you're tired, you've been walking for hours.

Grab = to get somebody’s attention

I'll see if I can grab the waitress and get the bill.

The play grabs the audience's attention from the very start.

Glasgow's drugs problem has grabbed the headlines tonight (= been published as an important story in the newspapers).

Sleeping

1. How many hours do you sleep every day?

2. Is it necessary to sleep enough?

3. Is taking a nap important?

4. Do old people sleep a lot?

1. How many hours do you sleep every day?

可以借助频率词:usually,sometimes,once in a while,occasionally,或者是on weekdays ,on weekends,on holidays 等。

通常我每天睡几个小时,几点到几点,还可以给出原因,对学生来说睡前完成作业,finish the homework and prepare for the next day。

Actually,on weekdays,I usually sleep for just 6hours at most. Because I have to stay awake, finish my homework and prepare for the next school day until midnight and I must get up around 6:30 to fresh up myself then commute to school for 45mins. Fortunately, on weekends or holidays, I can stay in bed as long as I wish, maybe for 10 hours or even more.

2. Is it necessary to sleep enough?

比如 storage up energy养精蓄锐; get a clear mind for the next day第二天精神状况更好等; 另一个也很容易描述的方面是:实际情况是怎样。

Sure, definitely. It’s extremely important to sleep for at least 7hours a day. So that one can storage up energy and get a clear mind for the next day. However, the fact is nothing like this. Almost everyone I know stays up quite late either having entertaining activities, playing smart phones or doing their job or homework. Lacking of bedtime is already a serious social problem nowadays.

3. Is taking a nap important?

午休taking a short break in the midday.

Honestly,I’m not so sure about this,I have heard that taking a short break in the midday prevents us from getting sleeping or dizzy in the afternoon. But in reality, the majority of my classmates including myself stay quite vigorous and active without it.So it might just be a personal thing I guess.

4. Do old people sleep a lot?

所以同学们还是要积累一下表示老年人的语言: the old, the aged,the senior,甚至也可以引入grandparents 这样的表述。

回答本题目,这是一个询问现状的yes/no问题,切记在回答是否之后,自然要给出一系列细节事实状况,老年人睡眠其实很多,只是睡得早:go to bed so much earlier,大概几点就入睡,但是他们起来的很早,要去晨练 doing some morning exercise in the park ,早市买菜do some grocery shopping, like vegetables and meat for the family 之类的。

As far as I know, the old probably get more hours of sleep, maybe in average 8 hours. They wake up in the morning just as much earlier as they go to bed in the evening. Like my grandparents they start doing some morning exercise in the park with other aged friends at 6,and then go to do some grocery shopping for vegetables and meat for the family in the street market. It is a typical Chinese thing.

Speaking of an occasion that I had special cake, actually, I find it a bit hard to say as in my opinion most of the cake are just ordinary so maybe just the gesture is a bit different.

So it was on my house warming day in the beginning of last year. I rented a new apartment back then because I needed to live close to school as my old house was over an hour away. As a university student, most of us are young and broke, so I told my friend that I didn’t want any house warming present and I would cook for them on the day. So instead of bringing me gifts, they all pitched in a beautiful cheesecake.

The cake was round shaped, covered in cream with chocolate icing on the side. To be honest, it looked fantastic and I couldn’t help myself by cutting it the minute I saw it. As it turned out, the flavor was fabulous and we really did enjoy the night. Well, of course my cooking was pretty good as well.

As for why it is so special, as a matter of fact, this was the very first time I had a cake other than someone’s birthday. And my friends told me that the gesture of the cake was to ensure that I can have a sweet life in my new apartment everyday. I believe it was our friendship that made this cake so special.

最新雅思口语Part2话题答案:activity you would like to do at or near the sea.

You should say:

what activity it is;

how easy or difficult it is to do this;

what you need to prepare for this activity;

and explain why you would like to do this activity at the seaside.

Actually, there are quite a lot of popular leisure activities people would like to do near the sea, such as strolling along the beach, writing characters or drawing pictures on the sand, or just playing beach volleyball with a bunch of playmates. There's something I would like to do when I am at the beach in my hometown - is definitely digging into sand for shellfish such asclams.

Lucky for me I grew up near the sea. When I was little, I could go there everyday with my playmates, doing all kinds of fun things. It was more like a large playground for us.

Digging into sand is my favorite seaside activity, and it is a very relaxing activity andminimal thinking is required. All you need o do is keep digging slowly and gently. If you dig them with great strength, you would probably end up with lots of smashed shells. Each time I can bring home a little bucket of clams.

Digging into sand doesn't necessarily mean that I am very patient. I just love to spend hours doing things I like. And I bet few people wouldn't love digging clams as it is so easy and fulfilling. You can imagine how happy I am carrying so many clams home before sunset. Because of me, my family would have one more palatable dish on the table.

Notes:

strolling along the beach

stroll:walk somewhere in a slow relaxed way, 表示“漫步”. along 表示“沿着”,通常和表示细长条形状的名词同时使用,例如along the road/ river/ corridor 等。

Lucky for me – 完整的表达是 It was lucky for me that I grew up near the sea.

lucky for me 也可以改为luckily for me.

end up with–to finish with the possession of someone or something or in the company of someone or something.

He tried hard but ended up with a poor grade. Careful or you will end up with Johnny for the weekend.

a palatable/ ?p?l?t?bl / dish – 一道鲜美可口的菜肴

最新雅思口语Part2话题答案: a time you need to arrive early

You should say:

When it was;

What time you arrived;

Why you need to arrive early;

And explain how you felt.

Last month I went to a concert in Beijing with my friends. It was the first show of the tour, performed by my favorite singer Eason Chen. We took the high-speed rail there and arrived at the stadium at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, four hours earlier than the show time.

The main reason we needed to set out very early is that we worried about being jammed on the way there. As we all know, our capital city is quite crowded. Besides, it was a great chance for us to visit the park nearby. It was said that it was one of the largest parks in Beijing, where there are a variety of rare plants.

It was a great experience to arrive early for several reasons. Firstly, we had adequate spare time to stroll around the area, where we met a few interesting people and watched some busking. Some of them were wearing outlandish dress or lovely make-up. The buskers were staging a show by singing or even dancing. What made me excited was that we were even invited to join in. Secondly, over the course of getting around, we bought many special souvenirs for our friends and also painted a unique design on our face to show our enthusiasm and ardor to the coming concert.

Tour: n.

High-speed rail: 高铁

Adequate: adj. enough, sufficient 足够的

Busking: n.

Outlandish dress:

Busker: n.

Stage a show: 表演

Get around:

Ardor: n. passion

You should say

Who this person was

How you knew this person

What impressed you about this person

And explain why you wanted to be similar to this person

Over my teenage years, I always want to be a good leader. I think the stuff a leader should be made of is a high sense of collaboration, a stable and sound personality and the spirit of sacrifice. If I take these 3 properties into consideration, I think there’s only one person need meet this requirement, his name is José Mourinho, one of the best soccer coaches ever. He first masterpiece in the soccer arena was back in , he led FC Porto, a team which is made of promising young minors to the summit of Euro Champion, which is called “the mission impossible” by the fans and soccer world. Mourinho started his career as a translator for the most famous soccer club FC Barcelona. After years of following the team, he learnt a lot about soccer and the mechanism of how to run a football team and how to be a brilliant coach. It’s really hard to believe that a man with such a humble birth could deliver so many miracles to the soccer arena, from 2003,he brought his career to a brand-new stage, leading FC Porto,FC Chelsea, Inter Millano and Real Madrid to the top of the league and achieve 2 times of Euro Champions during the years. Such great success in his coaching career is one of the kind, despite he wasn’t served for professional soccer in his preliminary career stage but an outsider, his later on boost in coaching was even more astonishing.

I first get to know José Mourinho was in year , when he was the coach of FC Chelsea, that year Chelsea was just a second class club in the premier league but after he’s on the coach, everything’s changed, they started the season with an irresistible momentum and took hold of the rest of the competitors. Finally they embraced the champion of the league.

I think the most thing that he impressed he was his way of leading his group When the team fell, he always attribute the failure to his own reason but not anyone of the team to fault. When the team rose up and succeed, his never take it as his own merit but act as if there’s nothing to do with him but only his boys. Moreover, when someone come up and accused his teammates, he will try whatever he can to protect and defend him. All of these aspects are what I think valuable properties of a great leader.

The reason why I want to be similar to him is because I always want to lead a group of people to achieve the common goal of us. In the school, I was also the kind of guy that want others follow my idea and carry out thing good together. But you know, everyone in a team need to be motivated and encouraged by the leader. Such quality and inter-personal skills need a long time to build up. But through learning the way Mourinho leading his team. I don’t think it’s that hard anymore. I’d like to apply his way of being a responsible leader to my life too.

1. What kinds of people do children in China want to be similar to when they grow up?

Most children in China want to be similar to their parents. Parents are the people who are most involved in a child’s life, thus he or she wants to be most like them. Also children always think that their parents are the greatest people in the world. They often brag about their parents’ achievements to their friends. I once read a psychology book;it said that you can always see people from three different aspects, as a child, as a sophisticated adult, or as their parents. I believe this idea has a lot of significance in a person’s character.

2. Do you think it is good for children and young people to use entertainment stars as role models?

No, I do not think it is good for children and young people to use entertainment stars as role models. One reason is that many young people get depressed, because they cannot measure up to the impossible standards that the entertainment industry sets. Another reason is that many celebrities live very immoral lives. Many celebrities abuse alcohol and drugs, and many are in constant troubles with the law. Basically, the majority of entertainment stars are not fit to serve as role models for young people today.

3. Why do some companies advertise products by using famous people?

Some companies use famous people to advertise their products, because many people aspire to be famous or at least respect famous people’s opinions. It is also a well-known fact that most famous people are also very wealthy. So, if people see that someone famous using a certain product, they get the impression that it is a quality product. Another reason is that famous people are usually attractive. Having an attractive person in your advertisement draws in people’s attention, and will keep people’s attention longer than unattractive person.

4. Do you think this is good?

It is good for the company that is trying to sell the product, because it gets their product some recognition. So when consumers go to buy something at the store this advertisement will be in their mind. As a result it can increase their sales. It is good for the economy because people are spending money on these products and cash is continuing to exchange hands. Production and transportation continue, thus, creating jobs for the common man and lowering unemployment.

因为我比较会描述建筑和艺术相关的,于是我说我喜欢花园里有特别的architecture style, 例如Renaissance (文艺复兴)时期的,还有别致的stone road,许多available facilities like swimming pools,我喜欢在这个花园里have a picnic,take photos and vedios by my digital camera等等。

Firstly:

Secondly:

I don't know, but my brother thinks that .....(我不知道,但我的兄弟认为。。。)

I don't know, but my father thinks that .....(我不知道,但我的爸爸认为。。。)

I don't know, but my friends think that .....(我不知道,但我的朋友们认为。。。)

你可以说:i'm sorry, do you want me to talk about __X?

I think that ....

I figure that ....

而figure却是informal(不正式的),而且还是very informal(非常不正式的)。

应该说:“i prefer like to...”,不应该说:“i more like to...”

应该说:“i am not be good at...”,不要说:“i am not good for...”

“....是如此简单” 应该说:“It's so easy for ...”,不要说:“.... is so easy”

Lastly:

To sum up:
