I like to see US TV series, most are telling about the supernatural phenomenon, like the vampire, ghost and so on. The plots are so attractive, I start to wonder if there is ghost or vampire in the world. As the science can’t explain everything, still there are a lot of weird phenomenon remain people to research, some people believe there is other space besides the earth.

They believe the ghost is invisible, when people die, their soul get out of their bodies and then exist with human being. Now I believe in science, there exists no ghost, it is people’s imagination. Long before ago, our ancestors made up the stories, they are the part of the history myths, as the time went by, more and more read the stories and believe what they said are true. The unknown phenomenon will be explained by the scientists one day.

出现了不少新的语言现象，令执 教者十分惊讶。有些教师甚至把这些新语言现

象作为错误在课堂上向学生予以纠正。究竟是教材编写有误，还 是我们的认识

有偏差，这是应该弄清楚的。

下面是笔者学习新教材的一些新语言现象的体会。

1. Well,it's getting late.I must be off now.Nice to meet you.(SBI,P1)

有人认为，“Nice to meet you”应该改为“Nice meeting you”或“Niceto

have met you”。理由是见 面应说“Nice to meet/see you”，分手应说“Nice

meeting you”或“Nice to have met you”。

固然，“Nice to meet/see you”常用于见面，但也可用于分手。此时意为：

It was nice to meet/see you.=It is nice to have met/seen you.=It isnice

meeting you.

2.Yang Mei:How do you do?I'm sorry.I Know only a little English.Ihave

some difficulty in pro nouncing some of the words in English.

like应该改为as。其实，这种观 点是片面的。在英语口语中，like可以作连

进行体表将来多见于短暂性动词，但是象

dine,work,sleep,stay,play,do,have,wear等延续性动词的进行 体也可表示将

来。例如：

在现代英语中，特别是在美国口语中，凡能够表示预先计划或安排的动作的

动词，无论是短暂性的还是延 续性的，都可以用进行体来表示将来。例如：

Nowadays, there is too much waste on some campus. You can see students leaving their dorms with lights on. You also find that many a student, after washing their clothes, doesn't bother to turn off the tap, leaving the water running. If you go to the cafeteria at dinner time, you are likely to see tables covered with the remains of all kinds of food.

Waste is very harmful. If you are extravagant with your money, you will soon be poor. Likewise, if human beings recklessly exploit the natural resources, then they are sure to have a gloomy future. What's more, being wasteful is a bad habit that, like a drug, gradually erodes a human being's virtues. Once a person grows wasteful, the virtue of frugality is eroded within him.

As far as I am concerned, I am determined to set a good example to combat waste, trying to use every grain and cent and call on more schoolmates to realize the necessity and importance of frugality. Only in this way, I think, can we hope to put an end to the waste on campus as soon as possible.

In the second place, it is not easy for our parents to arrange for our schooling. Last but not the least important, there is no denying the fact that our country is still poor. There are many people who cannot go to university and many poor people still need our help.
